Yes i do work

So last week i did some construction/home renovation work for Mark Van Wagenen (Kurt, Sarah, and Leah's dad if any of you know them) at a home in the Boise Bench they bought. For the Whole week I was there from like 8:30 until 5:00-6:45. Tiring stuff but $10/hr made sure there was no complaining. Harry and Jordan joined me the second day (Tuesday...duh...) and then the rest of the week. we did a lot of demolition and outside landscaping/picking up all of the roofing from the old roof. One annoying job was trying to take up two layers of linoleum out of the kitchen - especially when the first layer (at the bottom) looked like it was made in the 50's and used like tar to put it down on the wood floor... couldn't even get it all up. Probably the funnest parts were when i tore down the basement drywall (kindof like drywall) with a crowbar, used the edger/weed whacker (just like to use it), and then helped Harry framing - because i felt legit. Good hard work though

Kayak - ing

So, i'd been with Harry D. in a pool to learn how to roll pretty well in his kayak, and i've been a couple times on the Payette with him and Jake C. I happened to find a Kayak listed on Craig's list for pretty cheap so i went and checked it out with harry. I ended up buying it and got the spray skirt with it (no extra charge). It is a Wavesport Kinetic (1996) - you could even look it up if you want to know more about it. I went in a pool today to see how it felt in water and I LOVED IT!! pretty psyched about it.

So, i took my last test today - BOM/Rel. 122, and got a 97 by the way - and decided it would be appropriate to post a little (heh) collage of the pictures and memories I've collected this year. Some of them you've probably seen already in previous posts, others haven't been, but either way, enjoy!

Sunburn!! and sharp needles!!

Hey everyone,

well i got my mission immunizations on Thursday (at least the first bit of them - i've got to go back for some more with the hepatitis ones). for some reason had a sick day of hockey later that day with sore arms... had a hat trick in our little half-rink scrimmage, and i usually am not a scorer.

well then on Saturday Merrill hall had a "belly flop contest" and that is in quotes because only like 3 guys even did them. mostly just swimming/water bball and free food. but i was really smart and stayed out in the sun (wasn't too worried - it was only like 50 degrees outside) for like 2 hours when i am way white. needless to say i am and especially was earlier majorly burned. the picture does not do it justice, you can only kindof see some pink. if you saw me in person on like Sunday, my sunburn looked like one of those ancient Egyptian gold chest covering things, except in red. it was enough to make it hard to sleep sometimes. if you look at my neck you can kindof see the line where i got burned/didn't get burned.

Week of and weekend of Conference, and some old memories/pictures

well, this was a great week - it's crazy to think that next week is the last full week of classes for my BYU freshman year. It was a good week - played basketball a few times, as well as soccer. Hockey of course, which was way fun - trying to enjoy it while i can because it will be over for a while in a couple weeks! I'm gonna try and get some pictures too next week. I also went on a lunch date on Thursday. On Friday i went to the first part of my mission physical, glad to be getting it done.



Jordan opened his mission call on Wednesday - Hamburg, Germany. It's a big mission, and has a few large cities in it such as: Hamburg, Hannover, Dortmund, Essen (and most of that populated area - i.e. Hagen ), Bremen, Wolfsburg. so cool stuff.

And i remembered that i have some stuff i wanted to put on but forgot to on the first post. First off the German flag in the picture i surprised Jordan with on Thursday - it has the Eagle German crest as you can see, and that means it is the government's flag. it is actually a fine for anyone else in Germany to have this one - hehe. Also i wanted to post a couple pictures i got when talking to Ben and Elliott at Christmastime - just because i found them and they are awesome.

Canadian bound

well, not way too much happened this week - alot of tests and other stuff like that. It was a good week in that i learned alot, a good amount of it from kicks in the butt, but i'll take it from where i need it the most. Hockey was great as always - as well as indoor soccer with Jon.

it snowed like 5 inches today - very random. i knew it was coming but only because the weatherman in our hall told me about it - helpful guy.

Oh and two guys got their calls to Canada - one to Toronto, and the other guy got his to Vancouver so as soon as he gets back from chilling with his Fam, i'm gonna talk with him alot about that. Well, hope next week is more eventful so i can post something of significance -

The week leading up to Easter - sports and a prank

Hey everybody,

this week started pretty normal - on Tuesday was hockey again and did better than i had been. Later that night had an indoor game with Jon, we won 2-1. I felt alot better about this game, though their goal i could have done better. Sounds more like a full-field soccer game than indoor (normally like 7 - 12). But i had alot of fun, and had two really good saves. i'll describe them to you because they felt great. the first was a full diving save from a guy that shot pretty far out - but it's old man indoor soccer and so the players move slow, but have hard shots. I reacted a little slow but was able to get across to my left side and deflected it with my left hand; as i fell i saw it hit the upper 90 and bounce back across the goal behind me to the right corner of the field. we were tied 1-1 at that point i think. then my other one was when the ball had bounced around close to my goal on the right side, and it ended up only like 7 feet away from me. I had a defender in front of me so i couldn't charge the player as he was winding up for the shot - so i just dove to the right behind my defender just before the guy shot and i blocked it with my right hand. To be honest it was probably one of the best saves i've ever made. we were up 2 - 1 at that point. so it was great to have a good game to help us win.

well enough bragging about stopping old men from scoring (big deal...), I played alot of pickup bball the rest of the week, as well as hockey on thursday which was goalie. i'm probably not going to play goalie anymore because i bruise/mess up my knees and they don't need any more beating than they get anyways. Friday was pretty cool - though i'll admit to everyone i didn't go to either of my two classes that day, slept in and decided to do other homework. it's ok though, they are the two ones that post the powerpoint or just talk about the same thing. watched alot of college basketball and later hung out with a girl i know at heritage.

Saturday was the happening day - had our first intramural bball tourney game. we lost but it's ok because we really weren't that good and i had some good plays in the game. no blocks though :`(
I hung with Mom and Rachel because they were in town - that was fun. Then later that day after Jordan and I got back from the tumble gym, we found our room in complete disarray - as in they guys had switched our sides of the room, like our stuff. it was pretty weird and really funny. i wanted to go to bed as it was but Jordan said he couldn't stand it so we put it all back. but luckily the guys taped and took pictures for alot of it: you'll recognize Bennett and Tanner from a past blog, and the tall skinny guy is Doug, the one with gelled black hair is Trammell, and the other guy with black hair is Chris. enjoy looking at our room getting turned upside down:
